The power of focus!

We've all heard 'what you focus on is what you get' but how many of us really appreciate the power of this?  It's all to do with the way we phrase the questions we ask ourselves.

For example, instead of asking 'why does this always happen to me?', try asking 'what can I learn from this to make sure it works out much better next time?'.  This way, the focus will be on moving forwards, learning, growing rather than staying stuck in the past.

Or - 'What if I fail?' - try replacing this with 'What if I succeed - how brilliant will that be!'.  In this example, you've moved the focus away from failure and now you're considering all the possibilities that will come from succeeding - making it so much more likely that you'll succeed!

Or - 'Why can't I stop eating?' - try replacing this with 'How can I appreciate even more the level of health I have right now, and improve it by feeding myself even healther food!'.  In this instance, you're moving the focus away from deprivation, and concentrating on appreciation, valuing, and respecting your body so that you're far more likely to make healthy choices from now on.

So next time you find yourself indulging in a bit of self-flagellation, verbal thrashing or internal moaning, change the question and the focus - make a decision today that you're going to make the power of focus BE your focus - use it to take you where you want to be, and enjoy the journey!
